Nothing evokes retro gaming quite like platformers: Jumping around and traversing through obstacle-filled worlds is pure joy. At one point, the genre dominated the console market — and in recent years, platform games have been making a comeback.

And so, we pitted parents against their kids to see which generation prevails today.

In the third and final video of our series, a dad faces off against his daughter in a two-player mini-game that’s part of Shovel Knight, an 8-bit indie platformer with all the classic hallmarks of the genre. With a quick refresher course from expert gamer Jake Saleh, will Mark outplay his daughter? Or will Lily, the budding platform gamer, sweep the match?

Watch the showdown to see who can rack up the most points — and remember to stock up on Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries before you game. As the #1 longest lasting AA batteries, with a 20-year shelf life to boot, they’re guaranteed to keep you playing and winning.
